BHA peeling (salicylic acid) — how to start safely
BHA (salicylic acid) peeling — how to introduce it safely, who it's for, what not to do. No drama, no irritation.
What BHA is and what it can do
BHA (Beta Hydroxy Acid) most commonly means salicylic acid. Unlike AHA acids (e.g. glycolic), BHA is oil-soluble — it penetrates pores filled with sebum and dissolves comedones from within.
This makes it indispensable for oily, combination skin with comedones, enlarged pores and a tendency to acne.
What it does: • Exfoliates dead epidermal cells. • Cleans pores from the inside. • Acts as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. • Evens out skin tone and texture.
How to introduce the peeling safely
JuniKa Natur Salicylic BHA Peeling is formulated in a concentration that is effective yet safe for daily care.
Weeks 1–2: use twice a week, in the evening. Watch the skin's reaction. Week 3+: if your skin tolerates it well, use it 2–3 times weekly. After applying: wait 5–10 minutes, then apply a moisturiser.
Note: BHA may cause mild stinging in the first applications — that is normal. Burning, redness or stinging that lasts beyond 30 minutes — stop and consult a dermatologist.
What to avoid and what to combine
Avoid: • Combining with retinol in the same layer — risk of irritation. • Using on freshly tanned skin. • Applying to broken skin (wounds, peeling). • Skipping SPF in the morning.
Works great with BHA: • Niacinamide (in the evening, 20 min after BHA) — strengthens the barrier and regenerates. • Hyaluron — hydrates and soothes. • A ceramide-rich moisturiser.
Your 8-week skincare ritual
Full routine for oily / comedone-prone skin:
MORNING 1. Gentle cleanse. 2. Vitamin C serum — antioxidant, brightening. 3. Lightweight moisturiser. 4. SPF 30+ (mandatory).
EVENING 1. Two-step make-up removal (oil + foam). 2. BHA peeling (2–3×/week, on alternating evenings). 3. Niacinamide booster — 20 min after BHA. 4. Moisturiser.
On non-BHA days: hyaluron serum + moisturiser.
After 6–8 weeks the skin is visibly clearer, pores are smaller, tone more even. Patience and consistency > intensity.
Frequently asked questions
Is BHA peeling good for acne-prone skin?
Yes, but introduce it carefully. BHA is oil-soluble and penetrates pores, so it works on comedones and breakouts. Start with once a week and watch the skin's reaction.
Do I need to use SPF after a BHA peeling?
Yes — and it is important. Skin after exfoliation is more sensitive to UV. Without SPF the risk of pigmentation rises.
Morning or evening?
Evening. Do not apply retinol in the same layer as acids — wait 20–30 minutes or alternate (e.g. BHA on Tuesday, retinol on Thursday).
