Preparation
1. Wash hands with soap and rinse with warm water. 2. Open the foil pouch and remove the test cassette. 3. Carefully remove the lancet cap. 4. Clean the tip of the middle or ring finger with the alcohol swab. 5. Press the lancet against the fingertip (side of ring finger recommended). 6. Holding hand downward, massage the finger to obtain a blood drop. Wipe away the first drop. 7. Place the capillary dropper against the blood — blood will move into the dropper by capillary action to the marked line.
Procedure
1. Squeezing the dropper tip, place the blood sample into the cassette well. 2. Wait until all blood is transferred. 3. Unscrew the buffer bottle cap and add 1 drop of buffer to the well. 4. Read the result after 5 minutes. Do not interpret after 10 minutes.
Result interpretation
NORMAL: Two lines (C and T) — ferritin level is normal, no potential iron deficiency. ABNORMAL: Only C line — ferritin too low, possible iron deficiency, consult a doctor. INVALID: No C line — repeat test with new kit.
